The Civilian Reserve Information Sharing and Analysis Center (CR-ISAC) is a non-profit 501(C)3 entity dedicated to resiliency of our nation from widespread cyber attack. Much like The Red Cross prepares for and assists before and after natural disasters, we aim to do the same but in the cyber domain while also adding resiliency!
To Enable Unity of Effort amongst Civilian Reserve and Volunteer organizations through real-time information sharing providing capacity to the defense of our nation and allies beginning with Cyber Civil Defense of critical lifeline sectors and humanitarian functions while enabling shared situational awareness amongst all parties. The years ahead remain uncertain. Let's be OVER-PREPARED and not need it, than UNDER-PREPARED and suffering from a lack of action. Let's do this - volunteer talent, time, or funds today.

A large scale coordinated cyber attack on our homeland that cripples our economy or creates domestic chaos is fully possible and no longer a figment of a hollywood script. The recent CROWDSTRIKE update that crippled airports globally for days and required a labor intensive manual re-installation at each individual device is a small glimpse of the chaos that could ensue through a multi-adversary cyber attack on our homeland. Recent reports have proven the Chinese and others are already in our domestic utilities (VOLT TYPHOON) and may threat actors are all over our Critical Infrastructure to include healthcare and hospitals. Congress can help fund support this initiative to ensure we are mobilizing all of society so we are fully prepared to defend our nation and provide resiliency in a true WHOLE OF SOCIETY fashion. WHEN our nation gets attacked, we'll have veterans and patriotic Americans that won't want to be left on the couch - they will want to help much in the same way as they do post natural disasters. DHS, FEMA, and yes, Congress should Utilize the "Drop Us a Line" function below to send a note expressing your interest and a representative will reach out to you.
Our goal for the first 6-12 months is simple - Build awareness, bring together and help organize thousands of vetted volunteers (embracing military veterans and vetted civilians), enable unclassified real-time shared situational awareness of all through mobile platform, secure funding and strategic partnerships to bring stability to this effort. Initial focus will be in the area of Critical Infrastructure Protection and Defensive Humanitarian Missions - help protect water, hospitals, food supplies, transportation providers of fuel and people, and the energy sources to run pumps, factories, life saving medical equipment, and sustain the American Way of Life. Many of these infrastructures are run by civilian private sector or governmental organizations that are not resourced to defend themselves at scale from nation state attacks nor are they resourced to work 24/7 when under attack.
Humanitarian Cyber Missions - help protect water, hospitals, food supplies, transportation providers of fuel and people, and the energy sources to run pumps, factories, life saving medical equipment, and sustain the American Way of Life. Many of these infrastructures are run by civilian private sector or governmental organizations that are not resourced to defend themselves at scale from nation state attacks nor are they resourced to work 24/7 when under attack. Our retired military veterans and patriotic vetted citizens will not want to be left at home on the couch while our nation is under attack. They will rise up much like Ukrainian citizens have since early 2020 to help defend our homeland and protect our way of life for their families, particularly in defensive HUMANITARIAN CYBER missions. We can defend our nation together by coming together in Cyber Civil Defense fashion.
Get Involved - Donate funds as a business expense or non-taxable investment in improving our nation's resiliency to withstand large scale attacks on our homeland. Your business provides jobs and your ability to maintain business continuity will help ensure not only the profitability of your operations for your shareholders but also reduce the chaos that might follow a massive coordinated cyber attack from multiple nations on our homeland. How devastating would an outage like the recent CROWDSTRIKE debacle be to your business and our society if it was across all sectors of our economy nationwide. Retired military veterans and vetted civilian volunteers can help scale your post disaster operations where massive manpower might be required to re-image individual work stations at scale or when your contracted IT provider on retainer is overwhelmed by the intensity of a massive nationwide attack. Get involved and let's figure this out now! Utilize the "Drop Us a Line" function below to send a note expressing your interest and a representative will reach out to you.
No. All of our work is 100% Unclassified!
Contested Logistics means that it is HIGHLY likely that our military and CIVILIAN logistics (Amazon, Airlines, Rail, Transportation, etc) and supply/re-supply chains will come under many sorts of attacks, including cyber attacks, as adversaries like China, Russia, Iran, North Korea and others work to slow our response to global crises by not only impacting our military's ability to deploy but as they seek to also cripple our US Homeland, our economy, and erode U.S. public willingness and support to stand up to global aggressors.
Yes - the CR-ISAC can support resiliency from those threat actors that are looking to impact our defense industrial base and civilian supply lines/logistics by helping to provide the partner environment for shared situational awareness and coordinated defense as well as the ability to scale human manpower with Cyber and IT skills in the event it is needed.
Absolutely! However, this is not a topic for this forum. Please utilize the "Drop Us a Line" feature below and we will have a representative reach out to you for a detailed and protected conversation that will not only help reduce the risk to your networks but can help add to your team's collective effort.
Absolutely not. The CR-ISAC mission is non-political. The culture of the organizations we support must provide the ability for all volunteer members to focus on the mission of volunteering their skills and talents in the defense of our nation. The purpose of this forum is not political in any way. Members which begin to use the platform for political purposes or to sow division amongst us will be removed immediately.
No! (However, if that's your jam ;) we know how to get you in touch with the right people so you can be vetted to join the organizations that have legal authority to conduct such activities and defend our homeland in a different way.)
Prior military service is NOT required. Depending on your interests and/or location, the CR-ISAC will work to connect you with a cyber defense volunteer organization where you will be introduced to other cyber volunteers prepared to assist our local communities, state enterprise, or other locations where your cyber talents can contribute to the immediate defense and resilience of our critical infrastructure sectors as well as civil and humanitarian functions.
No. While the initial focus will be on cyber defense skills, the CR-ISAC will enable a unity of effort amongst volunteers in any function our nation may need in a time of conflict. Standby for additional information in the coming weeks.
Any and all Cyber, IT, and Analyst skills are desired. You will have an opportunity to share details related to your skills as you onboard.
Any and all skills are appreciated. Areas which align with military cyber qualifications are desired as well as specializations in Data Science, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Operational Technology, Malware SMEs, Reverse Engineers, Artificial Intelligence, ML, Quantum computing and many others!
Get excited for missions that will help make our communities more resilient from malicious cyber acts. Perhaps you might help establish partnerships with hospitals to ensure they can continue to operate in the face of massive cyber attacks, maybe you'll find yourself helping state and local governments and/or other critical functions in our communities. No matter what you do, you will be helping to defend our nation from malicious cyber acts.
No and No. While we seek to operate in a coordinated fashion with all stakeholders across our nation, we do not inherently "take orders" from the US government. Much like any other Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), we seek to provide for the common good similar to the way well known NGO/Non-profits like The Red Cross and others assist after physical disasters, only we do our work in the cyber domain. As we are just launching this effort, we are a volunteer unpaid force at this time.
No.
The world is becoming increasingly dynamic and our nation's security could be at continued risk in the years ahead. The CR-ISAC was founded to begin organizing cyber, IT, and analyst volunteers in order to begin organizing our ability to surge volunteers in the defense of our nation. We'd rather build/organize this capability and not need it then for our nation to find itself needing to surge volunteers and being unable to do so. Non-Profit/NGOs have always played a vital role in organizing volunteers.
YES! The CR-ISAC accepts tax deductible donations as well as offers the ability to support at multiple different levels of annual sponsorship. Donations of any amount are accepted via the link below or by sending us a note via the "Drop Us a Line" function below.
